چکیده

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has instituted an initiative for regulatory improvement to focus licensee and NRC resources on risksignificant activities, and to decrease the prescriptiveness of its regulations through performance-based methods that allow licensees increased flexibility in implementing NRC regulations. The NRC has identified risk-informed methods utilizing insights from probabilistic risk analysis (PRA) as a major tool for achievirig its goal for regulatory focus. The issue of fire protection requirements has been identified as a regulatory area in which NRC will pursue regulatory improvement. This report presents a technical review and analysis of risk-informed, performance-based methods that are alternatives to those in current prescriptive fire protection requirements or guidance that could allow costeffective methods for implementing safety objectives, focusing licensee efforts, and achieving greater efficiency in the use of resources for plant safety. A technical analysis of the usefulness of the results and insights derived from these methods (including accounting for the uncertainties in the results) in improving regulatory decisionmaking is presented.

Proposing the simplified model for choosing the method of retrofitting in existing structures against fire risk

Background and objective: According to the necessities in the part 3 of National Building Regulations, design and construction of buildings should be in a way that the structures, according to the type of use, the size and the number of floors, resist long enough to fire, and prevent from destruction of buildings or from spread of fire to adjacent spaces or buildings. For this purpose, it is ne...

Safety Analysis of Spent Fuel Transportation Cask of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant through the Passing of Fire Tunnel with ANSYS®10.0

The spent fuel assemblies (FAs) of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant are planed to be transported by TK-13 casks. Each spent fuel transportation cask holds 12 spent FAs and has a thick steel container to provide shielding. The calculations have been performed for FAs with burn ups of 60 MWd/kg and a 3-years cooling period. The ANSYS®10.0 general finite element analysis package was se...
